Celebrating Canadian traditions with butter tarts and ice cream.
On June 13, 2026, downtown Midland will become the sweetest spot in Ontario as Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival returns. Presented by Chapman’s in collaboration with the Town of Midland, this one-day festival celebrates Canada’s most quintessential treat in all its interpretations. The event promises an abundance of amazing delicacies and is expected to host over 60,000 butter tart fans.
This year, there is another cause for celebration – the debut of Chapman’s much-anticipated new Pecan Butter Tart ice cream. A nod to Canadian traditions, this ice cream features rich butter tart ice cream infused with hints of maple, praline pecans, and bits of buttery sugar cookies — all crafted from 100% Canadian dairy.
“After last year’s launch of our luxury Raisin Butter Tart ice cream — which quickly won over many Canadians — we wanted this year’s focus to be on those who prefer Pecan Butter Tarts. We’re thrilled to offer our premium take on this Canadian classic,” said Ashley Chapman, COO of Chapman’s Ice Cream. “It is always a pleasure to work with the Town of Midland on such a sweet project.”
Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival is a uniquely Canadian event for people of all ages, featuring over 300,000 butter tarts for sale, 230+ vendors, competitions, giveaways, live music, kids’ zone and much more. The festival is free to attend and runs from 9am to 5pm. It has been recognized by Festivals and Events Ontario as one of the province’s top 100 events.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Chapman’s back to Midland for the 2026 Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival presented by Chapman’s. Their new Pecan Butter Tart Ice Cream captures everything we love about this event – creativity, exceptional flavour, and pure Canadian spirit,” said Town of Midland Mayor Bill Gordon. “I know festival goers will be lining up for a scoop, and I’ll be right there with them.”
