Back-to-School program by Food Allergy Canada supported by Chapman’s

The back-to-school season is upon us and with it comes concerns about allergy safety. This month, Food Allergy Canada is launching another campaign featuring new webinars and resources on navigating food allergies during back-to-school with confidence.

Chapman’s is happy to support this important project once again, as we know very well that allergies are #MoreThanPeanuts.

The purpose of this campaign is to help educate the public on all food allergies, and to make families more confident in managing their food allergy during the back-to-school season. Food Allergy Canada will be sharing information through emails, newsletters, webinars, and the information hub on their website

The topics covered include learning on how to make allergy management a habit and reviewing the tools to become more confident at living with allergies. Diving into some specific allergies, like dairy, and teaching about the importance of using epinephrine to treat anaphylaxis will also be covered. Be sure to visit FAC’s website to register and review.

It is estimated that food allergies affect as many as 6% of young children and 3-4% of adults in Canada. Allergic reactions can change very quickly from mild to severe – in the worst cases causing anaphylactic shock or death.

In addition to hosting their Back-to-School campaign, Food Allergy Canada also launched a new social campaign on August 1st, It’s More Than Just Peanuts. The goal is to educate and drive awareness of the seriousness of food allergy and how important it is to know what’s in the food you are eating and/or serving, beyond just peanuts. Be sure to visit their website to stay in the loop for any new updates to come.
