Job Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a candidate with 2-8 years of experience who is eager to contribute to our financial operations, assist in cost analysis and grow within our accounting team.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Conduct detailed analysis of production costs, including raw materials, labour, and overhead, to provide accurate cost estimates
- Monitor and analyze variances between standard costs and actual costs, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities
- Prepare and present regular cost reports to management, highlighting trends, variances, and key insights to support decision making
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard costing systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date cost data
- Work closely with the production and operations teams to ensure accurate tracking of inventory and production costs
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation is preferred
- 2-8 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and financial analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (preferably Syspro/Solo-chain)
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
Working Conditions
Position is based in office in Markdale Ontario, day shift hours.
