MARKDALE, ON – Chapman’s has topped the charts as Canada’s Most Valued Brand in the inaugural Great Canadian Brand Index (GCBI) from Toronto Metropolitan University. Qualities that Canadians admire, such as respect and sustainability, were used to measure which brands are most valued among consumers. Out of 131 well known Canadian businesses, Chapman’s is proud to be ranked number one.
The Ted Rogers School of Management created the GCBI after surveying 2,135 Canadians on their feelings about how brands measure up to the qualities Canadians value most. The survey goes above and beyond quantified values, such as market size or revenue, and instead focuses on the essence of what Canadians aspire to be, such as friendly, honest, and tolerant, among others.
“It is an honour to be recognized in this way,” said Penny Chapman, President of Chapman’s. “The most valuable recognition of all comes from consumers. We are deeply grateful to all Canadians for supporting us for over 50 years.”
In a market where people are looking to support Canadian businesses first, this research reflects the views of consumers while shining a light on many brands across the country.
“It’s incredible to see the uplift of the support Canada movement. Many businesses need this support to make it through these turbulent times,” said Ashley Chapman, COO of Chapman’s. “It’s great to see so many outstanding Canadian companies being recognized by this research.”
Known for a variety of allergen free products, Chapman’s is committed to using only 100% Canadian dairy in their ice cream and not downsizing their products. Chapman’s is also known for their philanthropic efforts. Most recently, Chapman’s supported the build of a new school in their hometown of Markdale, Ontario. Other contributions to the local community include the new Brightshores Markdale Hospital and the Grey Bruce Hospice, also known as Chapman House.
Looking ahead at what’s next for the award-winning brand, Penny said, “We aspire to innovate with sustainability in mind. As we continue to grow, we will adapt and hope to never let our customers down.”
