If you are used to a large grocery store or prefer local farmers markets, there is a wide range of shopping opportunities. Markdale is home to a few restaurants and dinners for every taste. Some unique culinary locations, such as Flying Chestnut and Eigensinn Farm, can be found in the nearby proximity.

Continuous Growth

Our community is growing and developing rapidly. Plans are already underway to build a new hospital as well as a new elementary school building in Markdale. A large Foodland grocery store is scheduled to open downtown in February of 2020.  What is more, there are a few new residential developments are currently under construction.

The heart of Markdale is found in the sense of community that people continuously nourish. Here people have a rich history of coming together and supporting each other, showing resilience and strength through any downturns.  Community events are common to Markdale, including annual Santa Claus Parade, Beer Fest, Easter Egg Hunt, Markdale Frolic and many other. With Toronto real estate prices on a rise, there is a noticeable increase in people choosing to relocate to Grey County to find their dream home and build their families. Country living appeals to many, with the slower pace lifestyle it offers. It offers escape from pollution, multiple stressors, endless traffic and overcrowding.
