Title: Lead Hand – Mixing
Department: Production
Reports to: Mixing Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Mixing Lead Hand will require a strong level of mechanical aptitude, and 3 years’ work experience in Production or Mixing. Responsibilities shall include the management of Mix Helpers, maintaining product quality, safety, batching, scanning materials and ensuring traceability, and will work with Supervisors to coordinate production schedules. Other responsibilities will include the operation of various types of machinery, completing compliance paperwork (BRC, health & safety, etc.), and participating in related programs.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordination of Mixing schedule on a daily basis (coverage for breaks, lunches, as well as working with the Mixing Supervisor to adjust schedules to accommodate trial runs, breakdowns, etc.)
  • Monitor the performance of the Mixing system
  • Ensure that batching is completed in a safe and timely fashion
  • Maintain a safe, clean and legally compliant workplace
  • Maintain product quality
  • Operate various types of machinery as required
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed

Position Requirements:

  • Three to five years experience in a previous similar experience or more than five years experience in Production or Mixing environment
  • High level of mechanical aptitude (ex. rebuilding valves) will be an asset
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to create logically ordered objectives
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage employees
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent basic mathematical skills
  • Forklift experience an asset but not required
  • HTST certification an asset but can obtain later

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Average weekly hours of 42
  • Walking, standing
  • Potential dangers involved with mechanical work and repair
  • Overtime as required
  • Working at heights on tankers

Compensation: At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.

Initial starting rate of $28.75 per hour
